As a follow-up to the Inaugural Quitline Development & Improvement Training, the IQI conducted a full day pre-conference workshop and main conference symposium at the 2012 World Conference on Tobacco or Health (WCTOH) in Singapore. The event included presentations by Dr. Dongbo Fu (A Rationale for Establishing and Improving Quit Line Services) and Ken Wassum (Tobacco Quitlines: Successes, Opportunities and Challenges). Attendees also had the opportunity to participant in four roundtable discussions about the following topics:
- Quitline Goals and Objectives / Funding and Budgeting
- Staff Recruitment and Training
- Treatment Protocols (Behavioral and Pharmacological) / Promotional Strategies
- Evaluation Process and Procedures / Quality Monitoring
The workshop drew 70 participants from 36 countries, several of whom had attended the Inaugural Training. Another 70 participants filled the room for the main symposium two days later.
